Comfort Home

The Comfort Home program is a way for you to improve your home's energy efficiency and lower your bills. This program allows New Yorkers to receive thousands of dollars in rebates for home upgrades like air sealing and insulation. The comfort home program is available to those above the income requirements for empower plus.

The comfort home program is a way for those who don't qualify for either of the EmPower + tiers to still receive up to $3,000 in rebates for energy efficiency upgrades like air sealing to reduce air leaks into and out of the home and insulation for ceilings, floors, and walls. Comfort Home is offered through NYSERDA and only available through qualified providers.

Who Can Use These Energy Efficiency Upgrade Incentives?

There are three types of packages within Comfort Home. The first offers incentives up to $1,600 for sealing and insulating attic and rim joist. The next package goes up to $3,000 and includes wall and floor insulation in addition to the services included in the first package. The third package includes everything from the first two packages and also includes retrofitting windows to energy star. More detailed info is available on NYSERDAs website here.

We were recommended to speak to True Building Performance by two non-profits that advise on home Heating & Cooling as being honest and straight forward.  That was exactly what we received. We discussed our house and our situation and we ended up not needing anything from True Building Performance at this time and he was able to give me a referral to somebody who could resolve our issue.

I want to make this clear - the gentlemen said he didn't think an evaluation was necessary.  He didn't try to get us to sign up for an evaluation we didn't need or upsell us on anything and I don't know much about this stuff so it would've been easy. Just an honest person who gave us an great referral who also has been honest and straight forward.  If you need an audit this is the company to go to.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We moved into our current home in Sept 2021.  The first winter was painfully cold.  After doing hours of research and general maintenance I discovered the attic insulation services of True Building Performance.  Paul stopped over on a very hot Aug 2022 morning and did an inspection of attic insulation.  What he found was destroyed insulation from pests and ducting installation.  He informed us that we basically had zero R value in our attic.  Pauls crew returned in mid September 2022 to tackle the job over 2 days.

His team pulled the old insulation, removed and sealed the "attic/house fan", air sealed the entire attic, dry walled dead attic vents, and added insulation into the walls between our garage and main house.  Once all the prep was done his team blew in 15" of blown cellulose insulation.

Granted this winter hasn't been as severe so far, but wow what a difference.  We are able to heat our house with our wood stove and haven't needed to turn on any additional heat sources.

Updating insulation isn't the most glamorous home remodel but out of all the updates we've done in the last year the new insulation has been the most impactful to our quality of life.
