Who Can Use These Energy Efficiency Upgrade Incentives?
Many believe that only a few homeowners will qualify but that's not the case. Different programs cater to people with various incomes and household sizes. Here are two examples of customers and the programs where they qualify for help in reducing the cost of an insulation upgrade.
Mary
Mary qualifies for SNAP and HEAP. She is a national grid customer, and lives in a 2-person single unit home. She makes less than $44,760 per year. She is eligible for up to $10K in home improvements through EmPower+.
John
John lives in a 4-person home with an annual income of over $65,820. The home does not use a participating utility. John does not qualify for EmPower+ or NYSERDA financing. John applied for the Comfort Home program for seal and insulate attic and rim joist and insulate walls and floors and received $2,500.

Comfort Home works by completing air/sealing insulation packages depending on the type of work being completed.
Inflation Reduction Act
Save 30% on Eligible Home Improvement Upgrades
Included in this act is the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit, which expands the credit to allow households to deduct 30% of the costs of eligible upgrades from their taxes.

- Medium: 5 people, less than $101,808
